Around Manaslu Trek

The trek Manaslu (8156m) is the eighth highest peak in the world. It was officially opened for trekking in 1991. The gateway of the trek is Arughat 600masl, however can be started either at Gorkha or Trisuli Bazaar. The trail goes north up the Budhi Gandaki valley. The lower part of the valley is quite steamy. This trek is geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating. The inhabitants of the lower parts are Gurungs, Magars and Tamangs and on the upper part of the Manaslu area are Bhotias who migrated into Nepal from Tibet in the early 16th century. This trek offers views of major groups of the Annapurnas, Manaslu (8156masl), Shringi Himal (7187masl), and Ganesh Himal (7406masl) which soars and spreads from east to west. The Himalayan views of the route are awesome and Larke La (5100masl) is one of the most dramatic pass crossings in the great Himalayas. This route spreads across the Tibetan border, requires a special permit as well as the Manaslu conservation entrance fee and Annapurna conservation entrance fee. You must trek with a registered guide and two or more people in a group.
This trek is becoming more popular as the building of ever more teahouse lodges indicates. Most of the trekkers bring camping equipment, however there are many basic local facilities such as teahouses and lodgings providing simple rooms and food or supplies.
