Nepal Visa Procedure & Fees

Most international travelers can obtain a Tourist Visa on Arrival at Nepal’s international airports and designated land border entry points. Indian citizens do not require a visa, while travelers from certain countries must obtain a visa before arrival through a Nepalese Embassy or Consulate.

Visa fees are determined by the Government of Nepal and may change without prior notice.

Required Documents

To obtain a Nepal Tourist Visa, you should have:

  • A valid passport (minimum six months’ validity)
  • Completed visa application form
  • Visa fee payment
  • Passport-size photograph (if required)
  • Return or onward travel details (if requested)

Visa Extension

Tourist visas can be extended at the Department of Immigration offices in Kathmandu or Pokhara.

  • Minimum extension: 15 days
  • Extension fee: US$45
  • Additional days: US$3 per day
  • Maximum tourist stay: 150 days per visa year

Trekking Permits

A tourist visa does not include trekking permits. Depending on your destination, additional permits such as National Park, Conservation Area, Restricted Area, or Climbing Permits may be required.
