Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, one of our team representatives will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you can relax and recover from your flight or explore the nearby Thamel area, famous for its shops, cafés, and lively atmosphere.
In the evening, you’ll meet your trek leader for a detailed briefing about the Makalu Base Camp Trek itinerary, required permits, and safety guidelines. Enjoy your first night in the vibrant capital city, preparing for the adventure ahead. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Today is dedicated to preparing for your Makalu Base Camp Trek. After breakfast, our team will assist you with the required Makalu Barun National Park and Trekking permits. Once the documentation is underway, you’ll enjoy a guided sightseeing tour around some of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple — each showcasing Nepal’s deep cultural and spiritual heritage.

Later in the afternoon, you’ll attend a pre-trek briefing with your guide, covering trail details, altitude information, and essential gear checks. You’ll have time to shop for any last-minute trekking supplies in Thamel before the journey begins. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

After an early breakfast, take a short scenic flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar, a beautiful town located in eastern Nepal and the gateway to the Makalu region. The flight offers stunning aerial views of the Himalayan range, including Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu on clear days.

Upon landing at Tumlingtar, you’ll meet your trekking crew and begin a 3–4 hour drive to Num. The drive winds through lush green hills, terraced farmlands, and small villages, offering glimpses of local rural life. Num sits on a ridge with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and deep valleys — a perfect place to start your trek. Overnight stay in Num.

After breakfast, your Makalu Base Camp trek officially begins. The trail descends steeply through terraced fields and dense forests, leading down to the Arun River. After crossing a suspension bridge over the river, you’ll start a challenging uphill climb through lush forest and scattered villages to reach Seduwa — the entrance to the Makalu Barun National Park.
Seduwa is a charming village surrounded by terraced farmland and offers your first real glimpse into the traditional mountain lifestyle of eastern Nepal. Upon arrival, you’ll check into a local teahouse and enjoy a relaxing evening amidst the peaceful Himalayan surroundings. Overnight stay in Seduwa.

Today’s journey takes you through lush forests, farmland, and several small Sherpa villages as you make your way to Tashigaon, the last permanent settlement on the way to Makalu Base Camp. The trail gradually ascends, offering beautiful views of the surrounding hills, valleys, and distant snow-capped peaks.

You’ll pass through rhododendron and bamboo forests, where you might spot local wildlife or villagers engaged in their daily activities. As you approach Tashigaon, the path becomes steeper but rewarding, with panoramic Himalayan scenery greeting you at the top.

Tashigaon is a scenic village perched on a hill, known for its warm hospitality and traditional Sherpa lifestyle. It’s an ideal place to rest and acclimatize before you head toward higher elevations. Overnight stay in Tashigaon.

Today marks one of the most challenging yet rewarding sections of the Makalu Base Camp Trek. The trail climbs steeply from Tashigaon through dense forests of rhododendron and oak, gradually transforming into alpine terrain as you gain altitude. You’ll ascend several stone steps and ridges that test your endurance but offer breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and snow-covered peaks.

As you move higher, you’ll start noticing the change in vegetation and air temperature, reminding you of your approach toward the high Himalayan region. Khongma Danda, your destination for the day, sits atop a beautiful ridge offering panoramic views of Makalu, Chamlang, and Kanchenjunga ranges on clear days.

Today is a well-deserved acclimatization and rest day at Khongma Danda to help your body adjust to the increasing altitude. After several days of steady ascent, this pause is essential to prevent altitude sickness and ensure a comfortable journey ahead.
You can spend the day exploring the beautiful surroundings of Khongma Danda. Short hikes around the area provide excellent opportunities to enjoy breathtaking views of Makalu, Chamlang, and the surrounding snow-clad peaks. The region’s peaceful environment, fresh mountain air, and lush landscapes make it an ideal spot for rest and reflection.
For those who wish to stay active, a gentle hike up to nearby ridges offers a rewarding panorama of the Makalu Barun National Park and the rugged terrain that lies ahead. Enjoy the serenity of nature, interact with fellow trekkers, and prepare mentally and physically for the upcoming high passes.

Today’s journey is one of the most scenic and challenging sections of the Makalu Base Camp Trek. You’ll begin with a steep ascent towards the Shipton La Pass (4,200m), the highest point of the day, which offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks, including Mount Makalu itself.

The trail passes through dense rhododendron forests, rocky ridges, and alpine meadows before reaching the summit of the pass. After enjoying the breathtaking scenery and taking some rest, you’ll descend carefully toward Dobate, located in a serene valley surrounded by lush vegetation.

This section of the trek showcases the dramatic transition from high alpine terrain to verdant forests below, making it a truly memorable day. The descent can be steep and slippery, especially if it has rained, so trekking poles are highly recommended.

After breakfast, you’ll continue your Makalu Base Camp adventure with a beautiful trek through dense rhododendron and pine forests. The trail descends to the Barun River Valley, where you’ll follow the river upstream, passing serene waterfalls, wooden bridges, and vibrant alpine vegetation.

As you move deeper into the valley, the scenery becomes more dramatic, with towering cliffs and distant snow-capped peaks framing the path. You’ll gradually ascend to Yangri Kharka, a peaceful pasture area surrounded by majestic Himalayan landscapes.

Yangri Kharka serves as an important stop for acclimatization and rest before the higher altitudes ahead. It’s also a great place to enjoy the tranquility of nature and the hospitality of local teahouses.

Today’s journey takes you through one of the most scenic sections of the Makalu Base Camp Trek. The trail gradually ascends along the Barun River, offering mesmerizing views of rocky cliffs, glacial streams, and snow-dusted peaks. You’ll trek through lush alpine meadows dotted with yak pastures and small herder shelters.

As you gain altitude, the vegetation becomes sparse, and the majestic views of Mount Makalu, Peak 6, and Peak 7 begin to dominate the horizon. The crisp mountain air and the peaceful surroundings make this trek both challenging and deeply rewarding.

Upon reaching Langmale Kharka, you’ll find yourself in a tranquil open valley surrounded by towering Himalayan giants—a perfect place to rest and acclimatize before heading to Makalu Base Camp.

Today marks one of the most exciting and rewarding days of your Makalu Base Camp Trek as you make your way to the foot of the world’s fifth-highest mountain, Mount Makalu (8,485m). The trail gradually ascends through rocky terrain and glacial moraines, following the Barun Glacier with breathtaking mountain views unfolding at every step.

As you approach Makalu Base Camp, the surrounding landscape transforms into a dramatic display of towering ice walls, snow peaks, and rugged Himalayan wilderness. The panoramic views of Mount Makalu, Peak 6, Peak 7, and Baruntse are truly awe-inspiring—making every step worth the effort.

Today is dedicated to exploring and enjoying the incredible surroundings of Makalu Base Camp, one of Nepal’s most remote and scenic Himalayan destinations. You’ll spend the day hiking around the area, soaking in the breathtaking views of Mount Makalu (8,485m), Baruntse, Peak 6, Peak 7, and the surrounding glacial landscapes.

You can take a short hike to higher viewpoints above the base camp for even more panoramic vistas of the snow-capped peaks and the Barun Valley below. The serene environment, crisp mountain air, and stunning scenery make this a truly memorable experience.

This is also a great day for rest, photography, and interacting with fellow trekkers or local guides who share stories of mountaineering expeditions and the region’s history.

After enjoying your final morning at Makalu Base Camp, you’ll begin your descent back toward Yangri Kharka. The trail retraces your steps along the rugged and glacial terrain of the Barun Valley, offering different perspectives of the stunning Himalayan peaks.

As you descend, the landscape gradually transforms from rocky highlands to lush alpine meadows and rhododendron forests. The crisp air and serene environment make for a peaceful trekking experience.

Upon reaching Yangri Kharka, you can relax and rest after a long but scenic day of trekking. The village provides a cozy atmosphere surrounded by towering cliffs and flowing rivers.

Today’s trek continues your descent through the beautiful Barun Valley, retracing your path back toward Dobate. The trail passes through lush forests filled with rhododendrons, fir, and pine trees, along with small pastures and streams. You’ll enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the constant presence of Himalayan peaks in the distance.

The descent is easier compared to the previous days, giving you more time to appreciate the natural beauty and take short breaks at scenic spots. Upon reaching Dobate, you can unwind at a local teahouse and reflect on your incredible journey toward Makalu Base Camp.

After breakfast, you’ll begin your descent from Dobate toward Danda Kharka, following a scenic trail that winds through dense forests and picturesque landscapes. The route offers a mix of downhill and gentle ascents, passing by tranquil streams, rhododendron groves, and occasional small settlements.

As you lose altitude, the air becomes warmer and the greenery denser, giving a refreshing change from the high-altitude terrain of the previous days. You’ll reach Danda Kharka, a peaceful resting spot surrounded by rolling hills and forested ridges, where you can relax and enjoy a quiet evening.

Today’s trek takes you further downhill from Danda Kharka to Seduwa, marking your return to lower altitudes and warmer climates. The trail descends through beautiful forests filled with rhododendron, oak, and bamboo, along with occasional views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
You’ll pass through small villages and terraced farmlands, where you can once again experience the warm hospitality and daily life of the local people. The journey is long but rewarding, as the changing scenery—from alpine wilderness to lush subtropical vegetation—highlights the region’s rich biodiversity.

After breakfast, you’ll begin your final trekking day, descending from Seduwa back to Num. The trail takes you through lush forests, terraced fields, and small traditional villages, offering one last chance to enjoy the peaceful rural atmosphere of eastern Nepal. After crossing the Arun River, a short uphill climb brings you back to Num.

From Num, you’ll take a scenic drive to Tumlingtar, passing through winding mountain roads and vibrant hillside settlements. As you reach Tumlingtar, you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment for completing the incredible Makalu Base Camp Trek.

Today, you’ll take a short and scenic flight from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu, enjoying one last aerial view of the majestic Himalayan peaks, lush hills, and winding rivers below. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel, where you can finally relax after your long and rewarding Makalu Base Camp Trek.

You can spend the rest of the day exploring Kathmandu’s vibrant streets, visiting nearby cultural landmarks, or simply unwinding at a local café or spa. In the evening, consider joining a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of your trekking adventure.
