As the trail climbs through dense forests, cascading waterfalls, suspension bridges, and picturesque mountain villages, trekkers experience a fascinating blend of natural beauty and living Tibetan Buddhist heritage. Traditional settlements such as Chumling, Chhokang Paro, Nile, and Mu Gompa showcase centuries-old monasteries, intricately carved mani walls, prayer wheels, and vibrant local traditions that have survived in relative isolation.
The highest point of the standard itinerary is Mu Gompa (3,700 m / 12,139 ft), one of the oldest and most significant monasteries in the region. Many itineraries also include visits to Milarepa’s Cave (Piren Phu), Rachen Gompa, and nearby sacred sites that highlight the valley’s profound spiritual significance.
